Alpe d'Huez
Enjoying a stunning location on a south-facing plateau, high above the valleys below, this is a resort ideal for families and skiers of all abilities. With excellent nursery slopes, the skiing gets more difficult as it rises up to Grandes Rousses and Pic Blanc at 3300m. Two black runs down the Sarenne glacier are particularly renowned - one a steep mogul slope and the other an incredible 16km trail into the Sarenne gorge. Off the slopes, there is a vibrant centre. The Visalp pass covers Alpe d'Huez and 6 other resorts and gives free access to the swimming pool, ice rink, Palais des Sports (fitness centre, tennis, squash, wall climbing), and shuttle buses.
